Getting a More Beautiful Skin Through Tanning
Tanning is the process of darkening the skin. Many people –celebrities included – find that a well-tanned skin is attractive and looks healthier. If you want to try this, there are many processes that you can consider. You have to pick which one works for you best.
Sun Tanning
Sun bathing is the natural way of tanning. People who consider sun bathing intentionally expose their skin to the sun for a period of time. The darkening of the skin can be attributed to the UV (Ultra Violet) radiation from the sun. Exposure to the sun can increase the body’s production of Vitamin D, but extreme exposure can cause serious harmful effects like sunburn and even skin cancer. To avoid sunburnt skin or skin cancer, make sure to always apply sunscreens.
Sunless Tanning
Sunless tanning darkens the skin with the help of chemicals. An effective but safe method is the consumption of carotenoids antioxidants. Carotenoids antioxidants are found in some fruits and vegetables like carrots and tomatoes. Apart from carotenoids, other tanning product options are lycopene, beta-carotene and canthaxanthin.
The most effective tanning product is DHA based in the form of gels, lotions, mousses, wipes and sprays. These products contain DHA (dihydroxyacetone) that gives a temporary tanning effect that will last for 3 to 10 days.
Tanning Booth
This is a machine that emits ultraviolet radiation for tanning purposes. Tanning booths normally use 160 watt VHO (Very High Output) or 180 watt VHO-R (Very High Output with Reactor) lamps. Tanning booths contain 32 to 56 lamps. Normal tanning time is only 10 to 15 minutes. Tanning booths have handles above the head that make tanning the underarms and the sides easier.
Tanning Bed
Tanning beds like tanning booths emit ultraviolet radiation for tanning. The emission is somewhat similar to the sun. Tanning time is from 15 to 20 minutes depending on the bed. Tanning beds usually carry 24 to 60 lamps.
